A gentle breeze blowing on a hot summer’s day. Sitting in my balcony with a glass of lemonade in hand, observing the fast moving traffic, the distant ships in the sea, the children bicycling down the path, the elderly doing tai chi…I started walking, walking down memory lane, to the near past and then to the distant, a piece of paper guiding me and in it the questions. Questions relating to my childhood, my dreams, my culture, my city and finally the reason for the interview – the Miss India pageant. When Vishal approached me about doing this interview for his blog – Scripting the story of life, I wondered why would anyone want my interview? And if they did, they could write about my achievement as a mother or as a homemaker, but for Miss India… and I didn’t even win that contest!
It was only after I started reading his interview questions and when the answers started pouring out, did I realize how much our past shapes us, our thinking, our decisions, our choices, our future. Although it was not a face-to-face interview, I felt like I was talking to someone, sharing my story, bringing to life my past. So here is the interview – Rewinding Time with Mehroo Mistry Turel. Hope you enjoy reading it!

That was a long interview. But enjoyed reading it. And congratulations on your new blog design. Wish you all the best. Hope you keep writing more soulful blogs. Coz that’s what sets you apart. ๐

Congratulations Kainaz! You are the 1st person to comment on this ‘new look’ blog so you win a special prize! A brand new dress from my SUMMER collection when I see you in December! :)). Seriously, I hope to have some freebies on my site to attract more readers but then like you said I don’t want it to be like any other ‘money making’ site. So we shall keep aside the freebies and go free flow with the emotions. Thank you for reading my interview and hope to see many more comments from you in the future.

I am a late lateef, I know Mehroo. Congrats for the new blog look. It’s been such an honor doing your interview and remember working on it at 4 a,m, felt like we were having a face to face. As i read and wrote, the image of the contest played into my mind, Mumbai with the crazy traffic and of course, the vibrant Parsi colony. It was such an honor taking you back in time. True, our past really defines us. It was such a joy:)

Wow, I didn’t know you had to work late into the night with this post but am glad we could connect finally! And yes I am happy that you forced me to think back into the details of my past, it’s so easy to forget the tiny bits that make you who you are!
